about the tool
The Medici web site will be under maintenance from 27/11 to 10/12 2010. There may be disruptions to normal service. Thank you for your understanding.
During the nine week attachment each student is expected to use the eMedici Author tool to develop a case study. The topic for the case study can be of the individual's chosing and must be based on a patient that they have seen during the attachment.
The case study must contain:
- The essential elements of the history and physical examination findings
- A diagnosis, differential diagnoses or problem list
- Concise details of management in terms of investigation and treatment
- A brief dissertation on an item of interest derived from the case
- An evidence-based approach to the dissertation
- A reference list - stating the level of evidence of each source
- The source of any images used (copyright issues) must be stated
Apart from being an essential component of the assessment, each case will be judged on its merits for:
- Formal inclusion in emedici.com
- A cash prize for the best case during the particular attachment
- An end-of year named surgical prize for the best case produced during the year
